Location: Gigg, Bury
- The Roch Valley Greenway Footbridge provides a new crossing across the River Roch in Gigg, Bury forming part of the forming part of TfGM Bee Network. Funded by TfGM and costing approximately £1 million the bridge provides new cycling routes and access for local residents to nearby commercial areas and a fishery.
- Wilde Consultants Ltd undertook a feasibility study investigating various options for the new bridge crossing for pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians and occasional 3t vehicles. The design team prepared a report detailing various pros and cons of each option, constructability and sequencing, cost estimates and recommendations.
- Wilde’s were subsequently appointed to undertake the civils design for the new footbridge including the design of bridge abutments, approach roads, river training wall repairs and the numerical assessment of existing approach structures for construction traffic. The design team prepared contract documents and provided on-site technical assistance during the construction.
- The bridge was successfully lifted into place on the 2nd of August 2023 and opened to the public on the 20th of September 2023.
