- The Milltown Street Footbridge restores a vital crossing over the River Irwell for the first time since Storm Eva in 2015, strengthening walking and cycling links between Radcliffe town centre and surrounding communities as part of the Bee Network and supporting the town’s wider regeneration.
- Wilde Consultants Ltd undertook a feasibility study investigating various options for the new bridge crossing for pedestrians and cyclists. The design team prepared a report detailing various pros and cons of each option, constructability and sequencing, cost estimates and recommendations.
- Wilde’s were subsequently appointed to undertake the civils design for the new footbridge including the design of bridge abutments, approach ramps, drainage and service ducting. The design team prepared contract documents and provided on-site technical assistance during the construction.
- The £3.2 million footbridge was successfully lifted into place on the 2nd of December 2025 and opened to the public on the 12th of May 2026.
