Elizabeth Park, Bolton

Client: Bolton Council Location: Bolton

Wilde Consultants provided consultancy support to Bolton Council to facilitate development of Elizabeth Park, the first new park in central Bolton for 120 years. The ‘Pocket Park’ which was named in honour of Queen Elizabeth II, occupies a key site in the town centre, formerly occupied by the Odeon Cinema.

Wilde’s involvement included the design and detailing of below ground drainage and Sustainable drainage systems (SuDS). This included modular attenuation storage, permeable paving and Rain Gardens, which together were used to attenuate and control surface water to agreed discharge rates.

The sustainable drainage proposals put forward, assisted in the award of Green Recovery funding from United Utilities

The hard work by the Design Team and appointed contractor Bethell, came to fruition on Friday 22nd March 2024 when Wilde Consultants were pleased to join the Mayor of Bolton and local MP’s for the official opening. The park itself features seating areas, picnic tables, illuminated trees, and a public performance space.
