Rivington Chase

Wilde were appointed to assist with developing the outline planning application for a £12m link road, which is one of the key components in the wider £262m Rivington Chase development site. The road is due to link the 187-acre site, formerly the Horwich Loco Works, to the Middlebrook Retail Park, Horwich Parkway railway station, and Junction 6 of the M61.

This road will help to unlock development at Rivington Chase, which had outline consent granted in September 2015 for 1,700 houses with retail and leisure development. The site is critical in helping to protect greenfield and greenbelt land from overdevelopment in Horwich and the wider Bolton area. The wider Loco Works is being developed by Bluemantle alongside Bolton Council, Homes England, HKR, and Network Rail.

Wilde prepared the outline highway horizontal/vertical alignments and designed the geometric layouts for two proposed roundabouts which form part of the planning application. An updated Transport Assessment was also provided to accompany the detailed application for the spine road.

The road has been funded from the Housing Infrastructure Fund.

Bolton MBC have appointed Wilde to develop the detailed highway layout and to design the underground drainage using SuDS
