We are seeking an experienced Transport Planning Officer to support a busy sustainable transport team in Kent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess highway and transport aspects of planning applications and development proposals.
- Provide clear written and verbal advice to Planning Committee Members.
- Contribute to all planning stages, including pre-application advice, appeals, discharge of conditions, and Section 106 obligations.
- Support transition from planning approval to Section 38/278 agreements.
- Manage specialist consultants maintaining the strategic transport model and support its internal and external use.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies, legal, financial, and service requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Strong knowledge of national transport/highway policy, planning processes, and Highway Authority responsibilities.
- Extensive experience assessing transport impacts of developments and producing committee reports.
- Understanding of transport modelling, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and highway design/adoption processes.
- Proven project management skills, including risk, budget, and contractor management.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage complex workloads, influence stakeholders (including elected Members), and work effectively across teams.
