We are seeking an experienced Client-side Project Manager/ PMO to support the delivery of major transport and highways initiatives across the city. This is an excellent opportunity to shape high-profile Bus Corridor schemes, Highways Improvements, and Active Travel projects that will enhance sustainable travel and public transport across the region.

You will play a key role in managing project delivery and supporting the development of business cases required for regional and national funding approvals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate highways and transport projects, with a focus on bus priority and active travel schemes.
  • Manage programme, budget, risks, and delivery across multiple project stages.
  • Oversee design development, feasibility work, and technical inputs from external consultants.
  • Support the preparation of SOBC, OBC, and FBC documents in line with DfT and GMCA assurance requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with TfGM, GMCA, local communities, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and updates for senior leadership and project boards.

Qualifications

  • A project management related (transport/ highways) qualification or proven experience within the project management environment
    And / Or
  • A Transport/ highways related qualification or proven experience within the public sector/ transport industry

Essential Requirements

  • Proven project management and PMO experience within highways, transport, infrastructure, or local government.
  • Background in delivering or supporting business cases for transport or public realm schemes.
  • Strong stakeholder and multidisciplinary team coordination skills.
  • Ability to work confidently in a client-side environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of working across a range of projects and their life cycles, e.g. concept, detailed design and delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully working within multi-disciplinary project teams, consultants and stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully developing relationships and partnerships to deliver a project.
  • Demonstrable experience in using accounting system to monitor and report on spend against budget requirements.
  • Full UK driving license and ability to travel across project sites.
