The A57 Warrington Road highway improvement scheme aims to reduce traffic congestion and increase safety in Bold Heath, St Helens.
The project was funded by the Department for Transport and brings a number of benefits along A57 Warrington Road, and at the junctions with School Lane and A569 Clock Face Road.
The works involved:
- Cycle lanes and shared pedestrian cycleways/footways along Warrington Road and Clock Face Road
- Traffic signals at the junction of Warrington Road with School Lane, including Toucan pedestrian and cyclist crossings on all arms. The latest energy-efficient traffic signal equipment was specified.
- Pedestrian facilities and traffic signals at the junction of Warrington Road with Clock Face Road
- New left and right turn lanes from School Lane northbound onto Clock Face Road.
Wilde Consulting Engineers were appointed to work in close collaboration with St Helens Council
Services provided:
- Development of the feasibility design, adopting LTN 1/20 best practice for active travel
- Statutory undertaker utility assessments
- Road safety audits to GG119
- Preparing detail design and MCHW works specification
- Street lighting and electrical design
- Wayfinding improvements
- Vertical alignment / 3D modelling of the proposals
- Development of contract documents for tender
