Retaining wall replacement with mass concrete wall
Client: Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council
- Mottram Road retaining wall supports farmland above the A57 Mottram Road. The existing 200m long dry stone wall was found to be in a poor condition and was considered to fail a qualitative assessment.
- The wall was replaced with a masonry clad mass concrete gravity retaining wall. Due to localized poor ground conditions a section of the wall was supported on mini piles.
- The simple design approach allowed the construction of the new wall to be completed early within the first financial year of the project giving the council better control of their budgets.
