Atherton track drainage renewal

Client: J Murphy & Sons Location: Atherton, Wigan

Project Overview / Excerpt

Wilde Consultants developed the design of a new track drainage system to help alleviate flooding and track quality issues at this site, just to the east of Atherton Station in Wigan. The presence of two buried high-pressure gas mains crossing beneath the railway at the problem area of the site required the development of a shallower depth overflow system for higher flow rates. The project was successfully completed in early 2021.
