Our inspections found the dry stone wall was in a poor state of repair with bulging and cracked masonry.
Special difficulties were encounted as the wall was steeply sloping on its upper side also traffic managment was required to safely carry out the works.
Vegetation clearances were necessary above the wall as mature self seeded trees had grown and could affect the integrety of the wall. On completion of the repair works a thourough replanting with suitable shrubs was carried out.
Our solution was a semi random distribution of soil nails at a maximum of 2m centres. The semi random pattern was aesthetically more pleasing than regular rows of soil nail heads.
The southern pilaster was rebuilt in reinforced concrete due to the large loads carried at this point.
