Modular Vault Dry Store

Short term storage of spent nuclear fuel has been adopted by the Hungarian Authorities for their nuclear power station at Paks, Hungary. Wilde Civil Engineers designed the reinforced concrete structures for the modular dry vault store. Hazard loads included earthquakes, elevated concrete temperatures and blast impact. Ground improvement works were designed to eliminate the risk of liquefaction the supporting strata.
The original design was undertaken in 1993. An extension to the facility to double the storage capacity was completed in 2004.
